How to Jailbreak Your iPhone/iTouch on OS 3.0 Using RedSn0w (Windows)
These are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone and iTouch (All Generations for both) on the 3.0 iPhone firmware using RedSn0w for Windows.
This tutorial can be used to jailbreak before applying the UltraSn0w unlock. UltraSn0w is not released yet. It will be soon. Meaning, if you require the unlock immediately then you should wait to jailbreak until UltraSn0w is released.
This video is for the iPhone, but it is almost the exact process for the other devices so watch for clarity
To use redsn0w simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!)

I say DO NOT install Cydia and Icy together as they do not go well!
So jailbreaking on redsn0w 0.72,Cydia Does not know what version it is using.
This is the crime of a corrupted var/lib/dkpg file.
GOLDEN RULE: Install Cydia,NOT Cydia AND Icy. You can install icy via cydia by doing a search for it within cydia.
The Dev Team are trying to fix this in Redsn0w 0.8.

redsn0w is an easy to use, multi-platform, multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking tool for the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), the iPhone 3G (but not the 3GS) and also the iPod touch (first and second generation). REDSN0W PROVIDES SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY TO QUICKPWN.
If you want to build custom firmware files with more flexibility it is suggested that you use ‘PwnageTool’ on Mac OS X.
1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use redsn0w right now. Ultrasn0w (the 3G carrier unlock) is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be released via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 carrier unlock works with this redsn0w release.
2. Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you will be able to get it via Cydia or Icy).
3. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
4. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.

Just so you know...
1. for the iphone 3g all you need is the ipsw latest 3.0 firmware for redsn0w.
2. for the iphone 2g you will need 3 things since it will be able to be carrier unlocked and those things are listed below (the bootloader can be found by searching google, but I have also included those files in a download on bottom of thread as well as the latest iTouch 3.0 firmware updates because they cost to update, I have not included the iPhone 3.0 update because it is free to update for iPhone through itunes whereas it costs $9.95 for each update for iTouch)

For the iPhone 2G and 3G, once you download and update your device you will be able to find the firmware on pc by following this pc trail below...
go to my computer>pc hardrive>user>"username" whatever that may be for you>appdata>roaming>apple computer>itunes>iphone software updates> and once you get to this folder you will find the latest firmware you downloaded as well as previous device firmware updates you have downloaded from itunes
