[NEWS] A True Windows Phone: MIUTech HDPC

MIUTech has been kicking around some Windows Phone concept for some time now, but the latest HDPC model is pretty compelling. The device is actually a true Windows Phone, and by Windows, we mean Windows XP. The dual-booting OS mobile internet terminal and smartphone package runs both Windows XP and Windows CE for power users.

The device sports two screen--a smaller 2.4-inch 320 x 240 AMOLED screen on the front that runs Windows CE and a larger 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen on the inside to run XP on the 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor. Additionally, the device sports a 32 GB SSD drive for storage, 1 GB RAM, WiFi, USB host capabilities, GPS, HDMI and HD audio out, and three cameras--5-megapixel camera, internal video camera, and external video camera on the 2.4-inch display for video calls.

The device measures 6.06 x 2.95 x 0.91 inches and weighs in at over 10 ounces. The size isn't too bad for those who need their smartphones to do a bit more as the XP operating system should mean you get desktop-grade software compatibility and don't really need to run scaled-down apps. For the MIUTech Windows Phone, there truly is an app for that.

While the front of the device runs Windows CE, the homescreen and design is somewhat reminiscent of a Nokia running an S60 operating system.

A basic version should cost around $500 and a premium version could go for one Benjamin under a grand.
