[Rom] Stable 2.1 Rooted ROM for moto DROID-NANDROID required
Hey everyone, this is a rom I just modified from the original flan 2.1 image. I have rooted the phone with the original root patch and have upgraded su to the version that does not require an adb shell to be root. The new 2.01 root patch did not work on 2.1, Busybox and the free version terminal emulator is included. I have upgraded the system shell to a stable android release of BASH 3.2. The image has not been tied to a gmail yet so the new user will be able to set everything up as their own. I have tried messaging, phone call, web browsing, market, email, and program compatibility. 99% of non google program are fully functional. All google programs were working when I tested them. Programs must be installed through an app manager to work. If you just copy them into /data/app, some programs will not work. This is true of terminal emulator and better terminal emulator pro. Work fine if I use an app manager to install one. I recommend Astro file manager. This is a must have!

About installing this ROM- The pre-requisites are as follows:

    1. must have NANDROID installed. I recommend installing version 0.11.0 or better of SirPsycoS patched recovery image (I am using ver 0.11.0).

    2. Make a backup of your system using NANDROID. Go into your sdcard from your computer. go into your nandroid directory and move all the backups onto a folder on your pc. This is important because I had an issue with NANDROID not wanting to install my image after it was unzipped. It skipped it. Its a fluke because NANDROID worked fine after moving the other backups out of the folder. When a new recovery image comes out that allows you to select which backup you want to restore in NANDROID, you can skip moving the files off the SDCARD. All permissions I set were retained when I tested the restore. I did a format of data, system, and cache before restoring my image from the downloaded zip. This has been fully tested!

    3. download my NANDROID image file here:

    Code:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/yguzz11m2no/BCDMRS-20091219-1559.zip
    4. unzip this into the nandroid sub folder where you had your recovery images that you copied to the computer.

    5. ONE QUICK NOTE: I recommend buying an micro sdcard reader for your pc before doing this. If there is a problem with the image for any reason, this would help you get your last backup copied back onto the sdcard for a NANDROID restore. Its just a good recommendation.

The installation procedure is as follows:

    1. Boot into recovery. Open an ADB shell from your computer.

    2. Format the data on the current partitions. This is important to ensure that a clean install is made. Issue the following commands from the ADB root shell (in recover)

    format DATA:
    format SYSTEM:
    format CACHE:

    3. Run NANDROID restore from the nandroid recovery sub-menu.

    4. Reboot your DROID. Enjoy!

As a note, I did download this from my mediafire hosting, decompressed the folder, and restored the image to ensure that the file is not corrupt or bad.
