    HTC Touch Pro (US Cellular)

    HTC Touch Pro (US Cellular) ROM 1.08.573.1 upgrade

    Installation Instructions:


    The software upgrade posted below provides enhanced performance and stability of your device.

    Please read the following important notes before starting the upgrade:

    How can I check to see if the upgrade available is a newer version of software than what is currently in my device?

    1. Go to “start”
    2. Select “settings”
    3. Go to “System” tab
    4. Select “Device Information” which should display a screen like the one shown.

    If the ROM version and Radio versions are different than what is shown or the ROM date is older, you should consider upgrading.

    If you are having challenges connecting with ActiveSync, please try the following on your device:

    * Go to “start”
    * Select “settings”
    * Go to “Connections” tab
    * Select “USB to PC” and uncheck “Enable advanced network functionality”

    The standby and hibernation modes are disabled on the computer. Click here to view instructions on how to do this. If using a laptop, make sure your laptop is plugged into a power source.
    All running applications on the computer have been closed.
    Ensure that your device has a battery level of at least 50%. To check you battery level

    * Go to “start”
    * Select “settings”
    * Go to “System Tab”
    * Select “Power”
    * Go to “Battery Tab”

    Note: A charged battery is essential to completing your software upgrade. If you start the upgrade without a charged battery there is “risk” that it will not recover and will need to be sent for repairs.
    The update can take up to 25 minutes so set aside time when you will not be interrupted.
    All data will be deleted from the device during the upgrade (music, pictures, 3rd party applications, etc); be sure to back up all of your data using ActiveSync (Windows Mobile Device Center, if you are running Windows Vista) prior to upgrading. (See instructions below)
    Do not interrupt the upgrade process or press any buttons until the process has been completed (the device will reset itself when the update is done).

    Upgrading your device requires that you follow the steps outlined below. To help you with the upgrade process click here for the upgrade guide.

    Step 1: Back up Personal Data from your device

    If there is information on your device that you would like to retain, you will need to create a backup copy on your desktop PC prior to installing the new software on your device. If you do not backup your information you will permanently delete all of your personal info including but not limited to: settings, files, contacts, calendar, emails, ringtones, pictures/videos, and 3rd party applications.

    Step 2: Upgrade Software on your Device

    Before you run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU), make sure you check and do the following first:

    * USB cable that came with your smartphone is connected to computer.
    * Stand-by and hibernation modes are disabled on the computer (see instructions above).
    * All applications on the computer have been closed.
    * USB cable that is plugged into your cable is also plugged into your smartphone and you have established an ActiveSync connection with the computer.
    * Do not interact with your smartphone unless instructed to do so.

    You are now ready to launch the ROM Update Utility (RUU) to upgrade your mobile device

    Step 3: Restore Personal Data on your device

    After you have completed the software upgrade you will need to run this final step to restore your personal data on your device.
