Iphone OS 3 Beta 3 With Non-Dev Activation Trick!
***** YOU MUST HAVE 32 bit (x86) Windows for this to work!!!!(NOT x64) *****
Jailbreak:
Instructions:
1. After you have the Beta 3 firmware downloaded, launch Itunes and shift click either the Update button or the Restore button.
2. Next select the downloaded Beta 3 firmware and allow it to install.
3. After installation has completed you should come to a pink screen like this:
4. Now launch Quickpwn and make sure activate is UNSELECTED, only Jailbreak (And Icy)
needs to be selected. Then follow normal jailbreaking procedures. (At this time make sure Itunes is closed if it hasn't closed automatically)
5. After the phone is jailbroken you may either be taken back to the pink screen or to the lock screen. Launch the iUtilities program and a box will appear asking for an IP and password. Leave the IP box blank but for password enter: alpine
6. You should see a series of tabs at the top of the program. Click String Editor. Now you should see something that says Change System Version then below it there are 2 boxes. Change the box that says 2.2 to 2.2 and the box that says 5G77 to 5G77. After this click OK (The OK button may not have any words on it but it's the button directly below the 5G77 box.
7. Finally hold in the home button and power button until the slide to power off dialogue comes up and launch Itunes. If all was done correctly Itunes should recognize your Iphone and activate.
Blamo you're done, OS 3.0 is now at your finger tips
One more thing, Itunes will tell you there is an update available (2.2.1) DONT CLICK IT. Obviously you are updated past it to 3.0 but it thinks you are on 2.2
How does this work?:
Basically what this is doing is telling your iphone in the settings that it is version 2.2 instead of 3.0 so Itunes will activate it. Pretty cool huh?
ALSO! If you are someone who jumped the gun early and installed OS 3 before knowing you had to be a dev and got stuck at the pink screen unable to downgrade, this will make your iPhone usable again! Just follow the steps starting at number 4.
