Judging by the images and video, the game looks fantastic. It uses an antique storybook-style backdrop for stages that gives the game an artistic touch. The gameplay is simple and reminiscent of many Nintendo DS titles, which often concentrate on innovative and interactive touch gameplay. For the most part, it’s much like Sonic the Hedgehog, but with a twist. The character in the game, “Ivy,†basically runs from start to finish on her own and it’s up to the player to guide her to safety. To do this, the user draws lines, or “vines,†to impede or assist Ivy in her adventures. There are fifty challenging stages in total with many “speedrun†elements.
Having such a reputable team working on Windows Phone game titles is rather exciting. Perhaps, Microsoft’s Marketplace for Mobile is what inspired the team to jump on the Windows Phone wagon? If that’s the case, this could be an early sign of good things to come in the world of Windows Mobile. Ivy the Kiwi is due to hit Marketplace in December. Hopefully it will be available for all regions, after launching in Japan first. Read more on Prope’s website.
